Phu Quoc, Vietnam · $90 per person · EN
Did my Advanced Open Water Diver and Nitrox Certifications with instructor Thinh after not having dived for 7 years. He made me feel so safe and secure. Our class was small. Just three students for one instructor. Thinh is highly skilled and very calm as an instructor. His instructions are very clear and he is a great teacher. If you're looking for a full-service dive centre where you will get excellent training, I think Vietnam Active won't disappoint you.
What is this tour like?
Vietnam Active is a PADI 5 Star centre on Trần Hưng Đạo road in Cửa Lấp, and its fun diving day is aimed at divers who already hold a certification. Pick-up from the hotel is between 7:30 and 8:30, the boat leaves the harbour at 9:00 and is back between 14:00 and 15:00. Two dives are made at two different sites in the An Thoi group in the south — the centre names Coco Island, Roi Island, Pineapple Island, Kim Quy, Dry Island, May Rut, Bat Island and Lighthouse Island among the twelve islands and seventeen sites it uses. The north of Phu Quoc is not part of this programme: the operator states the maximum depth there, at Turtle Island, is six metres.
The centre dives in small groups — four guests maximum — and does not mix different levels of experience in the same group. The $90 covers high-quality equipment including a dive computer, all fees, a certified PADI instructor or divemaster, a light breakfast, lunch, fruit, snacks, water, tea and coffee, and hotel pick-up and drop-off; nitrox is available on request. The centre holds 5.0 on Google from 1,278 reviews as of 4 September 2026. The staff work in English. One safety note the operator prints itself: it is recommended to wait 12 to 18 hours after diving before flying.

“We had an incredible diving experience with Nico Sessario from Argentina. He is an amazing instructor n extremely knowledgeable, professional, and at the same time so much fun to dive with. He made us feel completely comfortable and safe throughout. On top of that, he captured some truly amazing photos for us. We did two dives with him, and both were unforgettable. Highly recommend diving with Nico!”
“It was a wonderful adventure for me as a first timer in scuba. We've seen many beautiful fishes and corals and other seabed inhabitants near little Hòn Kim Quy island just south of Phú Quốc. The opening briefing before we started was quite simple even for those who never dived in their life. Guys on the boat worked as a team and were very helpful and friendly to us. Our scuba master Khoa is a professional and skillfully guided us throughout all our dives, checked our condition and maked sure we won't be lost. The water was clear by the way and the weather was great. I enjoyed my adventures very much, definitely one of the strongest good memories about the Island and Vietnam.”
