What is this tour like?
Flipper runs two beginner formats side by side. Try Diving north or south is 1,900,000 VND for one dive and 2,500,000 for two; the fuller PADI Discover Scuba Diving with two dives is 3,000,000. There is also a pool option — half a day in the pool before the sea — for 800,000 VND, and a combined DSD plus pool package for 3,800,000. Guests staying in the south have their own grid, where Try Diving starts at 2,400,000 and DSD at 2,900,000. The operator publishes its own dollar equivalents next to the main lines: about 72.9, 95.9, 115.1 and 30.7 USD.
The programme is open from 10 years old, in the operator's own words: to sign up for a PADI Discover Scuba Diving experience you must be at least 10, no prior scuba experience is necessary, but you need to be in reasonable physical health. The price covers pick-up from where you stay, one or two dives, lunch, snacks and drinks. The boat leaves from Dương Đông for the north or An Thới for the south, and the operator states that diving in the north is not available from 10 May to 20 October. An area of improvement is that the trip is a bit socially awkward. The staff mostly keep to themselves and don't interact much with the guests in between dives / transport. So it doesn't feel quite like a diving 'community'.”
