Had an amazing diving experience with Sayeed. We did three dives and each one was incredible. He was extremely attentive throughout, always making sure we were comfortable and safe, and pointed out so many things underwater that we would have missed on our own.

A long day and an honest one: pickup from your Phuket hotel between 6:00 and 6:30, the speedboat leaves Thap Lamu at 8:30, and you are back in Phuket around 18:30.

You make two dives. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to Saturday they are in the Similan Islands themselves; on Sunday and Wednesday the boat runs to Koh Bon instead. Breakfast, lunch and soft drinks are on board.

Two things are deliberately not in the price and you should budget for them: the national park fee of ฿700, payable in cash, and equipment rental if you do not bring your own.

  • Koh Bon on Sundays and Wednesdays — the site known for manta sightings

FAQ

Can I join without a diving certificate?
No — this trip is two certified dives. Without a certificate, take the Similan snorkelling day trip instead: from ฿3,490 with the national park fees already included.
What does the day actually cost in total?
฿4,900 for the trip, plus ฿700 park fee in cash, plus equipment rental of ฿150–500 per item if you need it. There is nothing else.
When do the Similans open?
The national park runs from about 15 October to 15 May and is closed the rest of the year for the reefs to recover. The administration confirms the exact dates each season; the opening days are already bookable.
Where does the boat leave from?
Thap Lamu pier at 08:30, north of Phuket. Transfers from Patong, Karon, Kata and south Khao Lak are included and start at 06:00.
What is the chance of seeing mantas?
Koh Bon, which the boat visits on Sundays and Wednesdays, is the site known for manta sightings. Nobody can promise an encounter — it is wildlife.
How long is the day from hotel pickup to drop-off?
About twelve and a half hours. Pickup on Phuket is between 06:00 and 06:30, the boat leaves Thap Lamu at 08:30, and you are dropped back at your hotel around 18:30.
Which days does the boat go to Koh Bon instead of the Similans?
Sundays and Wednesdays. On Monday, Tuesday and Thursday to Saturday both dives are in the Similan Islands themselves.
Is diving equipment included or do I bring my own?
Rental is not included. If you do not bring your own kit, budget ฿150 to ฿500 per item on top of the ฿4,900 trip price and the ฿700 park fee.
Are meals provided during such a long day?
Yes — breakfast on the way out, lunch between the two dives, and non-alcoholic drinks throughout. All of it is served on board and already in the price.
Can I have a dive guide just for myself?
Yes, on request — a private guide is ฿2,000 per day and is not part of the standard price. Ask for it when you book so the operator can assign someone.

“I booked the advanced open water diver and had a great experience. Jon was a great instructor who gave good advice and took care of me at all times. Felt really safe. The dive sites were cool — I saw a sea turtle, reef sharks, multiple wrecks and lots of other stuff.”
