The short version

The boat takes up to six anglers, and private charters can be arranged.

The trip lasts five hours out of Port d'Alcúdia with local captain Vince Riera: trolling the blue water for tuna, dorado, dentex and amberjack first, then bottom fishing over the reefs where grouper often show. Skipper and boat, rods, reels and tackle, bait, the fishing licence for the trip and fuel are included; food, drinks, gratuities and transfers are not.

Beginners are welcome — the skipper coaches the gear and technique in Spanish, English or German.

Mallorca Sport Fishing Charter

As good as it gets. I’ve fished 60–90 days a year for 20 years and these guys are the best charter I’ve been out with. Top boat and top crew.

We had a great afternoon out with Capt Vince and Ignatius. Their equipment and boat are top-notch. We went after little tunny — a fun day on the water.

I’ve worked in the travel industry 14 years and have never come across such an amazing, professional fishing charter. Capt Vince goes above and beyond.

FAQ

Is the price per person or per boat?
Per person on a shared trip: €140 each, so two of you pay €280. The boat carries up to six anglers, and a private charter can be arranged separately.
Do I need experience or a licence?
Neither. The fishing licence for the trip is included in the price, and the skipper walks beginners through the gear and technique. Keen anglers are equally welcome.
What might we catch?
Tuna, dorado (mahi-mahi), dentex and amberjack on the trolling run, with grouper often on the cards near the reefs — it depends on the season and the conditions.
How long are we out, and what should we bring?
Five hours from Port d'Alcúdia. Bring sun protection, a hat, a light jacket, your own food and drinks, and seasickness tablets if you are prone — food and drinks are not included.

Fishing off Mallorca: what to know

Do you buy a seat or the boat?

The Mallorca sport fishing charter is priced per angler at €140 on a shared trip, which is the opposite of how most charters work. Six seats fit on the boat, so a couple pays €280 and may share the day with other guests. If you want the boat to yourselves, ask about a private charter when you book.

What happens in the five hours?

You leave Port d'Alcúdia after a gear briefing, troll the blue water for tuna, dorado, dentex and amberjack, then anchor over the reefs to bottom fish for dentex and grouper before cruising back with the catch. The crew can often prepare what you land to take home. Families are welcome, and the skipper works in Spanish, English and German.

Everything you fish with is already aboard — rods, reels, tackle and bait are included, along with the licence for the trip.

Where do you meet the boat?

Port d'Alcúdia on the north coast, about 5 minutes from Alcúdia, 16 from Port de Pollença and roughly 40 from Palma or the airport.

Important

transfers are not included in the price — plan your own way to the quay and allow for the drive.

What else leaves from the same ports?

If fishing is not the reason you are on the water:

  • Boat rental — from €260 per boat for an eight-hour day, the whole hull for the group.
  • Boat trips — from €49 per person for three hours, someone else at the wheel.
  • Diving — €75 per person for three hours, tanks and gear included.
  • Sailing lessons — €59 for a two-hour catamaran session in the Bay of Pollença.
