A first breath underwater off Valencia costs €50 per person with Buceo Valencia or €150 with El Mar de Valencia. Neither asks for a certificate — what separates them is the group size, the meeting point and the drive to get there.
Do you need a certificate to dive in Valencia?
No — not for either trip. Both centres run a first-dive experience — bautismo in Spanish — made for people who have never breathed from a regulator. A PADI instructor stays beside you for the whole dive. El Mar de Valencia sets an age floor: from ten years old.
A certificate changes what comes after, not whether you can start. Both centres are PADI schools running full courses — El Mar lists them from Open Water upward, Buceo Valencia from Open Water to professional levels.
A first dive and a course: which is which?
What the first dive actually is
Two hours, of which the dive itself is one part. El Mar de Valencia runs a briefing and gear fitting, then breathing practice in shallow water where you can still stand, then a guided sea dive to around twelve metres, then a debrief. Buceo Valencia keeps the same shape along the Levante coast.
What a course adds
Certification is not part of the trial-dive price at either centre — it is a separate course. €50 or €150 buys a guided dive, not a card that lets you dive without an instructor. If the first dive suits you, the same centre takes you on — but you book the course, not an upgrade.
A diving course in Valencia: what it adds to the first dive
A diving course in Valencia is not the first dive under another name. The first dive is made alongside an instructor and leaves no qualification; the course certifies you, which is why it is listed as a separate item on both pages. Both centres are PADI schools running full courses from Open Water upward: Buceo Valencia works out of Pobla Marina in La Pobla de Farnals, and El Mar de Valencia beside the Real Club Náutico. Why are €50 and €150 both a first dive?
Because they are different centres in different places, not different levels of diving. Both reach about twelve metres, both run about two hours, both include the instructor, the equipment and insurance. What changes is the group size, the meeting point and how far you drive.

Important
One caveat on the lower figure. Buceo Valencia's own answer widens it: around €50–86 per person depending on the format and the season. €50 is the entry price of the sea baptism dive, not a fixed rate for every version of it.
What does the price include, and what is paid on top?
Both include:
- a PADI instructor;
- the dive equipment;
- the guided dive itself;
- insurance.
What you bring is swimwear and a towel — everything else is provided at the centre, so you need no kit of your own.
Both centres charge extra for the same three things: photos (video too at El Mar), transfers, and certification as a separate course. What a transfer costs depends on where you are picked up, so ask when you book.
Where do you meet and how long does it take?
Beside the Real Club Náutico
El Mar de Valencia Dive Center sits next to the Real Club Náutico de València. Drive times: about 17 minutes from the city centre, 18 from Malvarrosa, only 8 from El Saler and 16 from Valencia airport. Two hours from briefing to debrief, in a group of no more than four divers with the instructor.
North at Pobla Marina
Buceo Valencia works from Pobla Marina in La Pobla de Farnals, north of the city. This is not the city marina but a separate town to the north, so allow extra driving time; the exact point comes with your booking. Two hours again, in groups of up to six.
How deep do you go, and where exactly do you dive?
About twelve metres on both dives, guided the whole way. El Mar dives along the Valencia coast; Buceo Valencia dives the Levante coast out of La Pobla de Farnals. Buceo Valencia warns that a dive may move to another day if conditions are unsafe.
The exact spot is chosen by the instructor on the day — by swell, wind and visibility — so it is named at the briefing rather than at booking. If visibility or water temperature decides your trip, ask us and we will check with the centre for your date.
