Where boats leave from in Dubai: marinas, beaches and berths

Departure points for Dubai's water trips are spread unevenly across the city. The densest cluster of berths is still inside Dubai Marina, but it has not been the only one for a while: there is Dubai Harbour, the beach station on the Palm, two fishing harbours at Jumeirah and Umm Suqeim, the Jebel Ali shore and Dibba port on the other side of the country. Here is how that breaks down by area:

Why do so many starts sit in Dubai Marina?

Because six of the starts are there: the Al Hubob St berth for the yacht, the cruise terminal for the dinner cruise, the Ocean Active pontoon for the fishing charter, the El Mundo berth for the catamaran, the wake pontoon, and the jet ski base on the border with JBR. The whole group spans about 2.7 km end to end.

Which Marina berth belongs to which trip?

Quays with a name

Five of the six Marina starts have a quay of their own. The luxury yacht charter leaves from the Al Hubob St berth, €390 per boat for 120 minutes, up to 10 guests with Xclusive Yachts. The sightseeing and dinner cruise leaves from the Marina cruise terminal, AED 210 (about $57) per person for 90 minutes, up to 40 guests. Some operators here quote in dirhams, others in euros. The sailing catamaran sunset cruise has the El Mundo berth, €65 per person for 150 minutes, up to 30.

The two pontoons

The other two are pontoons: the deep-sea fishing charter at the Ocean Active pontoon, €145 per boat for 240 minutes, up to 8 anglers, and the wake session at a Marina pontoon.

The closest pair

The two that sit closest together are the cruise terminal and the fishing pontoon — about 0.1 km apart, effectively the same stretch of quay. The yacht berth sits about 0.6 km from the cruise terminal, and the El Mundo berth marks the northern edge of the group, about 1.3 km from it. All of this is listed on the Dubai boat tours page.

How is JBR different from the Marina?

Barely at all. The Ride in Dubai Watersports base sits right on the seam between JBR and the Marina, and the jet ski skyline tour leaves from there — about 0.5 km from the yacht berth, the same cluster rather than a second neighbourhood. It runs 90 minutes at AED 680 (about $185) per jet ski — one or two riders on the same machine, the second one pays nothing extra — in a group of up to 8, with Ride in Dubai.

So the practical answer is that JBR and the Marina are one planning zone, not two. What changes between the six starts there is what you see once you are out — this one is built around Burj Al Arab and Atlantis — rather than how far you travel to get on the water. Kite Beach and the other starts on sand

The kitesurf and wing-foil lessons begin on sand rather than at a quay: Kite Beach in Jumeirah, an ordinary public beach. Come changed — there are no lockers and no gangway here. It costs AED 900 (about $245) per person for 120 minutes, in a group of up to 4, with Ocean Tribe. The beach lies about 10–12 km up the coast from the Marina cluster.

Two more starts now work the same way: the Blue Ocean Sports IKO course at Jebel Ali Public Beach, about 16 km from the Marina, and the SeaYou beach station on the Palm's East Crescent, about 5 km out, where the beach catamaran is rigged on the sand.

That gap is the planning fact worth carrying. It is also one of the three starts where you walk to the water instead of stepping onto a boat, which changes what "the start point" even means: there is no pontoon to find, and the group is capped at 4 students. Al Wasl: the farthest start inside the city

The scuba diving day starts at "Al Boom Diving, Al Wasl, Dubai" — a dive centre, not a quay. It costs €110 per person for 240 minutes, in a group of up to 6, with Al Boom Diving. Its coordinates sit about 20–22 km from the Marina berths and about 10 km from Kite Beach — the farthest of any start inside the city.

Only the Nemo Diving Center trips leave the emirate altogether: they register at Dibba port on the east coast, in Fujairah, and run two boat dives or a full day in Musandam from there; the transfer out of Dubai leaves at 05:30.

Two things follow. The dive day begins at a dive centre rather than on the waterfront, so you have a landmark in advance; the exact address, as everywhere here, comes after booking. What can you realistically combine in one day?

Two things that both start inside the Marina, because those six points span about 2.7 km between them. The shortest outing of the eight lives there too: the wake session, 60 minutes at AED 550 (about $150) per session for up to 5 people, from a Marina pontoon with Blue Wake Dubai.

Pairs that keep you in one place: the 60-minute wake session with the 90-minute dinner cruise; the 90-minute jet ski with the 150-minute catamaran sunset; the 120-minute yacht charter with anything short.
