The short version

Inside the kitesurfing price are the complete kit and mineral water, extensive insurance cover, video and theory classes, and a round-trip transfer to your accommodation in the southern zone. The lesson takes place on the Maspalomas coast, with the exact spot chosen on the day by where the wind is working.

Because the lesson is one-to-one, two people learning together are two bookings, not a shared rate.

Two things are billed on top and both are easy to plan for: the photography service is €35 per person per day, and a transfer from outside the San Agustín to Meloneras strip adds €25 per booking. The prices themselves, cheapest first — the first of them is an add-on for people who already ride, not a way in:

  • €50 — Pozowinds' individual advanced session, two hours, sold without equipment: a step the school offers to people who already ride, not a first lesson.
  • €145 per person — the two-hour private kitesurfing lesson on the Maspalomas coast, one learner with one IKO-certified instructor.
  • €198 per person — Pozowinds at Pozo Izquierdo: five lessons of two hours each, ten hours in all, with Duotone, Armstrong, Core and KT equipment included; vouchers are valid for two years from purchase, so the five sessions do not have to fit one holiday.

What's included

  • Round-trip transfer to your accommodation (south area)
  • Complete material and mineral water
  • Extensive insurance coverage
  • Videos and theory classes
  • IKO-certified instructors
  • Equipment included (Duotone, Armstrong, Core, KT)
  • Vouchers valid for 2 years from purchase

Not included

  • Photography service €35 (per person and day)
  • Transfer outside the San Agustín–Meloneras zone: +€25 per booking
  • Individual advanced course 2 h €50 — equipment not included

Good to know

  • Beginners who want fast progress one-to-one, and riders who want a coached session on a new spot.
  • None required; you should be able to swim and be reasonably fit for two hours in the water.
  • Swimwear, sunscreen, a towel; everything technical is provided.
  • People committed to learning wingfoil over several sessions; ideally with some board or wind-sport background for Pozo itself.
  • Swimming ability and reasonable fitness; ten hours of tuition spread across lessons.
  • Swimwear, sunscreen, a towel and water; wetsuit and all wing/foil gear are provided.
  • Pro Surfing Company, C.C. Eurocenter local 80, Avenida de Moya 6, 35100 Maspalomas (27.765577, -15.571014). Round-trip transfer from accommodation in the south is included; lessons take place on the Maspalomas coast, the exact spot chosen by wind on the day.
  • Pozowinds Windsurfing Center, Avenida Las Bajas 75, Pozo Izquierdo, 35119 Santa Lucía de Tirajana (27.823465, -15.424129). The centre schedules each of the five lessons with you by wind forecast; some sessions may run at nearby Bahía de Formas.

Private Kitesurfing Lesson in Maspalomas — 2 Hours, Pro Surfing Company

Coming here was a wonderful experience! Even as a beginner in surfing, I quickly learned the basics and rode many more waves than I expected. The service is excellent; they pick you up at your hotel and take you back at the end of the day. Everyone is very kind, and the instructors are clear and helpful. The time flew by, and you even get a break during the activity.

Private Kitesurfing Lesson in Maspalomas — 2 Hours, Pro Surfing Company

I couldn't have imagined a better surf experience than the one with Pro Surf! The organization was really really good, and even when I made very spontaneous requests, Paul made everything possible. With Danny and Ezy as surf coaches, it nearly felt like a private lesson, even though I was in a group of 11 people. They always kept an eye on everyone and gave me tips on what to do differently.

Private Kitesurfing Lesson in Maspalomas — 2 Hours, Pro Surfing Company

I booked a surfing lesson at Pro Surfing for my wife and our two daughters (8 and 10 years old). As a father, I was a little nervous beforehand, wondering if surfing might be too challenging or intimidating for them. I couldn't have been more wrong! The instructors were absolutely fantastic. They were patient, encouraging, and knew exactly how to make the girls feel safe and confident.

Private Kitesurfing Lesson in Maspalomas — 2 Hours, Pro Surfing Company

We booked a surfing lesson and had a really lovely time! Our instructor was excellent, he explained everything very well and in a very fun and calm manner. We would love to come back again! The surf school was easy to reach, and we drove for 5 minutes to the beach where we surfed. The experienced instructors adapted the lesson to our needs and different levels.

FAQ

Is the lesson private or in a group?
Private, one learner with one IKO-certified instructor, two hours, €145. Two people wanting to learn together are booked as two lessons: the school sells it for a single participant. The wingfoil course at Pozo Izquierdo is sold differently — a pack of five two-hour lessons for €198 per person, valid for two years, so it does not have to fit one holiday.
What is included in the price?
Complete material and mineral water, extensive insurance cover, video and theory classes, IKO-certified instruction and a round-trip transfer to accommodation in the southern zone. Photography is €35 per person per day on top, and a transfer from outside the San Agustín to Meloneras area is €25 per booking.
Where exactly is the lesson held?
On the Maspalomas coast in the south of the island; the school itself is at the Eurocenter in Maspalomas. The exact beach is picked on the day according to where the wind is working, which is why the meeting point is confirmed with the instructor rather than fixed in advance.
Will two hours be enough to kitesurf on my own?
No, and the school does not claim so. Two hours cover theory, safety, kite handling and the first time in the water with an instructor beside you. Progress after that depends on how many windy hours you can put in, so people who continue book more days rather than a longer single session.
What happens if there is no wind?
The spot is chosen on the day precisely to work around that, and the instructor moves along the Maspalomas coast to where the conditions are. If a day cannot be taught safely at all, the lesson is rearranged with the school — ask us to get the terms for your date in writing before you pay.

Gran Canaria has a reputation for wind, and most of that reputation belongs to Pozo Izquierdo on the east coast, where the trade wind funnels down the shoreline and where the island's competition windsurfing happens. Two disciplines, two coasts.

Which coast does each course run on?

Pozo is where the wingfoil course runs: Pozowinds, on the Avenida Las Bajas, sells five two-hour lessons for €198 per person with equipment included and a voucher valid for two years. The first kite lesson runs elsewhere — the Pro Surfing Company works the Maspalomas coast in the south and picks the spot on the day according to conditions.

Is Pozo a spot for a complete beginner?

Pozo is worth one honest caveat from the reviews. A two-star review says the spot is fantastic for people who already know windsurfing or foiling and hard for a complete beginner; a five-star review from a parent with two daughters describes flat, windy water where they were foiling by the second class. The centre also uses the calmer Bahía de Formas nearby.

What do two hours one-to-one actually cover?

Two hours one-to-one is not enough time to leave you riding independently, and no school promises that; it is enough to cover the theory, the safety systems, kite control on the beach and first contact with the water, with an instructor who is looking only at you.

  • The transfer inside the San Agustín to Meloneras strip is included both ways, which removes the usual problem of getting kit and yourself to a windy beach.
  • Outside that strip it is €25 per booking, not per person, so a couple staying further out pays it once.
  • The photo service at €35 per person per day is optional.
  • The kit, water, insurance and video theory are already inside the €145.

Important

kite progress depends on wind hours, not on lesson length, so people who intend to keep going book consecutive days rather than one long session.
