On an island where the resorts sit in a line along thirty kilometres of coast, the first question of any booking is not what to do but where it starts. Getting that wrong costs an hour of driving and, occasionally, the transfer that was included from somewhere else. Here is the whole map of departure points on Gran Canaria, and what leaves from each.
Pick the harbour before the activity. Almost everything on this page leaves from Puerto Rico, Puerto de Mogán and Pasito Blanco; diving at Arinaga, wingfoil at Pozo Izquierdo and paragliding in Las Palmas are separate trips, not a detour on the way to the beach.
Puerto Rico — the busiest harbour
More trips work from here than from anywhere else on the island. The cetacean boats — Spirit of the Sea from €25 and Líneas Salmón at €35 — sail from the Puerto Rico pier.
So do the Princesa Ico catamaran at €55, the Infinity yacht at €79.21 from berth EC 4, the 25-minute jet ski circuit at €60 per machine and the 60-minute jet ski safari from the same kiosk at €120 per machine, and the fishing boats from the Porto Novo harbour at €80 per angler.
Two dive centres are a few minutes' walk inland: Puerto Rico Diving in the Europa shopping centre and Blue Water Diving on Calle Olímpicos.
Puerto de Mogán — twenty minutes west
The village with the canals is also a harbour, and five trips leave from it. The Atlántida submarine at €38 dives over the artificial reef offshore; the Yellow Boat at €59 runs three hours with snorkelling and a Canarian lunch, and the same family sells a wine and produce tasting cruise at €62.50.
The Aqua Fun yacht to Güigüí at €125 leaves from here too, and the Stingray catamaran sails from Mogán although its company is based at Anfi del Mar. RockNatour launches two-seat kayaks from the Explanada del Castillete on a four-hour trip into the Mogán sea caves at €65 per person.
Pasito Blanco — the Maspalomas marina
Three departures start at Pasito Blanco. The 30-minute jet ski at €70 per machine and its 60-minute version at €110 run the Maspalomas coast from here; the parasailing flight at €60 per person goes out daily; and the Blue Spirit catamaran at €75 sails Monday to Friday from 12:30 to 16:30.
Which three are not in the south at all?
Davy Jones Diving sits in Arinaga on the east coast, next to the El Cabrón marine reserve, and works that reserve directly — two shore dives for €100 with hotel collection included. Both paragliding schools are in Las Palmas at the north end of the island, where a tandem flight starts at €70. None of the three is a detour from a beach day; each is its own outing.
Pozowinds is at Pozo Izquierdo on the east coast, the island's wind capital, and sells a five-lesson wingfoil course of two hours each — €198 per person with equipment included, vouchers valid two years. No transfer is stated; some sessions may run at nearby Bahía de Formas.

Which harbour lets you book two things in one day?
Puerto Rico, comfortably. A 25-minute jet ski slot and a 2.5-hour catamaran fit into the same morning without moving the car. In Mogán, the submarine plus the three-hour Yellow Boat also works if the times line up.
Does it matter which port I pick for dolphins?
Only for your driving. Líneas Salmón sells the same excursion from Puerto Rico, Puerto de Mogán, Anfi del Mar and Arguineguín, so board wherever you are staying.
